What is an Eating Disorder?

Eating disorders are problems that affect a person's eating behaviours as well as their attitudes and feelings about food and about their body. Eating disorders affects a person's mental health and physical well-being.

Millions of people in the UK are struggling with their relationship with food, which often goes untreated. Tunbridge Wells Counselling offers a qualified Eating Disorder Counsellor who underwent training at the National Centre for Eating Disorders and I work with other professionals to ensure you get the help you require.

Eating Disorders include Anorexia, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge eating, and EDNOS (eating Disorders non specified).

Can you relate to any of the following?

  • Periods of starvation causing marked weight loss

  • Fear of weight gain

  • Regular weight gain/loss

  • Obsessive thoughts about food, usually avoidance of it

  • Exercising excessively

  • Cessation of periods in females

  • Eating and then making yourself sick
